Mircea Horia Simionescu: a Bio-bibliography[1]


Novelist, journalist and essayist affiliated with the School of Târgovişte, now understood as a precursor of Romanian postmodernism


b. January 23, 1928, Târgovişte, Romania.


1948      enrolls in the Faculty of Letters at the University of Bucharest where he completes two years before suspending his studies as a result of economic hardship.

         1950         editor at Scântea / The Spark, the daily newspaper of the Communist Party.

1962       graduates from the University of Bucharest, by special examination

1969-71 works for the Central Committee of the Communist Party and in the Council for Culture and Socialist Education

1971-73 becomes director of the Romanian Opera

1974       retires

1998       receives the Opera Omnia prize from the Writers’ Union of Romania
